Course Dates

We are planning on running just one triop this year. This will be a mixed ability group from low airtime pilots to xc pilots.

20th Jan-3rd Feb 2018

Places are limited to 10 pilots so please don't delay in getting a deposit to us.

Flights to Colombia

We fly from Heathrow to Bogota, with an internal flight, normally to Cali airport. Flights are between £550-£750. We will be flying with Avianca on Friday 19th arriving in Cali early morning on Saturday 20th. Returning on Saturday 3rd Feb arriving back at Heathrow on Sunday 4th Feb.
You are more than welcome to find your own flights as long as they arrive and leave at roughly the same time as our flights.

Course Aims

Lee climbing out with his group.

We aim to teach you the skills to thermal and fly your first XC flights. This will be done by practical and theory training.
Colombia is a fantastic place for us to train you with consistant flyinig conditions, with big gentle thermals.

As you gain more experience we then start flying as a group. Gaggle flying selected routes with guidance from our local guide along with Lee and Dave. There will be briefings and debriefings each day and we will talk through any individual issues or questions you may have. We are also happy to provide ground theory sessions as requested. The ultimate aim is to have fun and land at the end of each day with big smiles!

Typical Accomodation.

These are available to hire for the two weeks at £40 however if you wish to buy your own then we are doing a special Colombia offer of £125. For more information about these fantastic trackers please visit http://www.cloudbaseparagliding.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=145&category_id=8&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=57

Useful Information:

The Colombian Peso is to only currency you can use in Colombia, and is available by visiting a bank or by using the numerous cash machines. The post office may be able to get Pesos if you pre-order. Please inform your bank that you intend to visit Colombia and that you will be withdrawing money from an ATM.

It's hot, very hot so please bring plenty of sun cream and a hat. The flying is superb with big, strong but not turbulent thermals. We sometimes have light rain either first thing in the morning or in the evening so bring a light weight waterproof jacket.

Mobile Phones

UK mobile phones don't tend to work in Colombia so we can source these locally on the first day. The cost is about £20 and they come with enough credit to last the week. If you have an unlocked phone bring it with you and we will just get a local sim card.

Breakfast is provided in the cost and normally consists of eggs, flatbreads and fruit. We stop at a local shop for packed lunch, and eat out in the various restaurants in the evening.

WiFi is readily available in most bars or cafes and is normally free.

Packing List

Insurance forms
NOK forms (we will provide these)

Tee Shirt

Please could you let me have your tee shirt sizes ASAP please go up a size as the ones we are providing are quite snug.

We normally fly in tee-shirt and shorts with a light weight wind stopper type jacket.

Evenings are very casual but can sometimes get a little chilly so light weight trousers and tops.

A camelback or similar would be handy if you do not have one already.

We will be moving to several different sites during the course, so try to pack light to make each move easier for you. All toiletries and bits and pieces are readily available in the local towns so don't feel you need to bring the kitchen sink with you! If you are unsure about whether to bring something or not, please ask.
